How to Apply for an Indian Visa
If you are a Swedish citizen or an Italian citizen and you want to visit India, you need to apply for an Indian visa. Here is how to do it:
- First, find out if you need a visa. If you are a Swedish citizen or an Italian citizen and your entry into India is not prohibited by law, you do not need a visa. However, if your visit is restricted by law (for example, if you are travelling as part of a government delegation), then you will need a visa. To find out whether or not you require a visa, contact the Indian embassy or consulate in Stockholm or Rome.
- Next, gather the required documents. To apply for an Indian visa, you will need the following documents: your passport with at least six months validity remaining; your travel document (if applicable); two completed copies of the application form DS-160 (available from the Indian embassy or consulate); and $120 (£80) in cash (or traveler’s cheque). Note that if you are travelling on behalf of a company or organisation, only one copy of the application form DS-160 is needed – the other can be submitted with your company’s letter of invitation. In addition, some applicants may be required to provide additional documentation (such as medical reports).
- Finally, prepare yourself for the visa interview. Before your appointment at the Indian embassy or consulate, read through all of the information provided on our website about what to expect
