If you’re planning a vacation or business trip to India, you may be wondering what your particular visa process will be. India has a variety of different types of visas, including an electronic travel authorization (ETA), and an Immigrant Visa.
Indian Visa Application
If you are a citizen of India and you want to leave the country, your best bet is to go through one of the Indian visa ports of exit. This will allow you to leave the country without having to get a visa beforehand.
There are five Indian visa ports of exit: Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Bangalore. While all five have their own specific requirements and guidelines, they all share some commonalities.
First and foremost, all five of these ports require that you have valid travel documents in order to apply for a visa at the port of exit. This means that you should have a valid passport, a foreign travel document with an Indian visa stamp inside it (such as an e-tourist visa or an advance reservation ticket), or a letter from your embassy or consulate stating that you have permission to visit India for tourism or business purposes.
Secondly, all five of these ports require that you arrive at the port of exit on schedule. If you don’t arrive on time, your application will be rejected and you will not be able to apply again for the same visa at that port of exit.
And finally, all five of these ports require that you have enough money to cover any additional costs associated with your application process. This includes fees for visas, transportation between the airport and the port of entry/exit, and any other necessary expenses related to your visit to India.
Passport and Indian Visa Requirements

Passport Requirements:
Australian citizens must have a valid passport to travel to India. A passport must be valid for at least six months after your planned departure from India.

Indian Visa Ports of Exit:

If you are traveling with children, you may need to provide additional documentation such as birth certificates or vaccination records. Indian Visa Requirements for Australian Citizens:
For Australian citizens, the visa process is fairly straightforward. However, if travelling to India as a tourist, it is important to be aware of the necessary documents you will need to bring with you when applying for a visa.
When travelling to India for tourism, a valid passport is always required. Additionally, you will need a visa application form (available from Indian embassy or consulate), two passport-size photos, and your airline ticket. For those travelling on work or business visas, you will also need your employer’s letter of invitation and official company letterhead. Finally, if you are travelling with children under the age of 18 years old, they must have their parents’ written permission to travel.
Remember to allow plenty of time when applying for your visa; processing times can vary depending on your specific circumstances. In general, however, expect applications to take around four weeks.
Multiple Entry Indian Visas
If you are a citizen of India, and want to visit Australia, you will need to obtain a multiple entry visa. There are several types of visas that you may be eligible for, including a tourist visa, student visa, business visa, and an employment visa.
To apply for a multiple entry Indian visa, you will first need to apply online at the Australian embassy or consulate in your home country. Once you have submitted your application and received your approval letter, you will need to collect your passport from the embassy or consulate and bring it with you when you travel to Australia.
While in Australia, you will be required to stay within the boundaries of your visa’s validity period. You are not allowed to work while on a tourist visa or study more than 20 hours per week while on a student visa.
