If you are planning on travelling to Canada, you will need to obtain a visa. There are different types of visas that you can apply for, based on your nationality and the type of trip you are intending to make. In this article, we will discuss the different Canadian visa types and their requirements. CANADA VISA ETA TYPES
What is a Canadian Visa?
A Canadian visa is a type of visitor visa that allows citizens of certain countries to visit Canada for a period of time. Citizens of the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries can apply for a Canadian visa at a Canadian embassy or consulate.
An ETA (European Union) visa is a type of visitor visa that allows citizens of certain European Union countries to visit other member states of the European Union for a period of time. Citizens of most other countries can apply for an ETA visa at a European immigration office.
What is an ETA Visa?
An ETA visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows residents of countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) to travel to Canada for tourism or business purposes. This type of visa is usually easier to obtain than a Canadian tourist visa and has fewer requirements. ETA visas are also valid for up to three months, which is longer than most Canadian tourist visas.
Differences between Canadian and ETA visas
There are some key differences between Canadian and ETA visas that may affect your eligibility and application process. Here’s a quick overview: CANADA VISA REQUIREMENTS
Canadian visas are typically issued for tourism, business, study or volunteer purposes. ETA visas are issued to individuals who are in the country legally and want to stay longer. ETA holders can generally travel to any country in the world without a visa.
Canadian citizens must have a passport from their home country and be able to show that they will not become a public charge while in Canada. An ETA holder does not need a valid passport from their home country, but must have an onward ticket and sufficient funds to cover their expenses while in Canada.
Canadian applicants must apply through the Canadian embassy or consulate closest to them, while ETA holders can apply at any immigration office worldwide. Canadian visa applications can take up to two months to be processed, while ETA applications can be processed within days.
Canadian citizens may only bring $10,000 worth of goods into Canada with them when travelling as a tourist, compared to the $50,000 allowed for ETA holders. Additionally, Canadian tourists cannot work during their trip without first obtaining a work permit from the government. ETA holders are allowed to work without a work permit provided they have valid travel insurance and hold a valid visa for the country they’re working in.
Canadian Visa Requirements
The process of obtaining a Canadian visa is quite different from that of obtaining an ETA visa. Most notably, Canadian citizens do not require a visa to visit the United States. However, both Canadian and ETA visas are valid for travel to most other countries in the world.
Canadian citizens must hold a passport from a country that is listed on the Canada Visa Waiver Program (CVWP). The list of countries can be found on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website. To obtain a Canadian visa, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
-Be a citizen of one of the countries listed on the CVWP
-Possess a valid passport from one of those countries
-Be travelling to Canada for tourism or business purposes only
-Have enough money available to cover your stay while in Canada
ETA visas are not issued to Canadians, but they are still valid for travel to most other countries in the world. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
-Be traveling to Europe or North America for tourism or business purposes only
-Hold an ETA visa that is valid for at least six months after your planned departure from your destination country
ETA Visa Requirements
The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is a visa that allows citizens of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business purposes. The ETA requires applicants to provide valid passport information, proof of citizenship, and a bank statement showing two consecutive months of stable funds in order to be approved.
Unlike Canadian visas, which are usually valid for three months, ETA visas are valid for one year and can be used multiple times within that time frame. Canadian citizens may also apply for an ETA if they are travelling to the United States for tourism or business purposes but will need to provide additional documentation such as a hotel reservation or business contract.
