You will need to apply for a temporary resident visa (TRV) before travelling to Canada. The TRV paperwork can be submitted at any Canadian port of entry. The processing time for an TRV is normally between two and four weeks but can take up to six weeks in some cases. Once the TRV has been issued by the Canadian Visa Office it will be valid for three months from its date of issue.
